New Beginnings

Starting anew or fresh into anything has a certain anticipation, excitement, and joy. New church plants have an unusual sense of the body of Christ as a unit doing the will of God together. The enthusiasm is contagious and new visitors come to see just what is happening. Some attempt new beginnings with the underlying motive of capturing these feelings of joy. Others simply begin something and the spontaneity of the results is a pleasant surprise. Joy permeates the new start, and each day is an opportunity to start fresh, start anew with life.

TODAY is the day to begin anew.

(Psalm 118:24)  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

(2 Corinthians 6:2)  (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

The opportunity is before us—today. There is no need to procrastinate. Today is now; today is here. Forget about yesterday. Do not worry about tomorrow. Begin anew today!

Today is the day of Renewal.

(Romans 13:11)  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Awake out of the lethargic habitual numbness of your life. Shake off the doldrums with its mental cobwebs of defeat and failure. Get up and get at it! You can do it, but you never will while sitting on the stool of do-nothing.

Today is the day of Repentance.

Many of our defeats and failures are due in part if not in whole to our wandering from God, or as we say, being a “slacker” when it comes to spiritual living.  Repent of that coldness and lack of faith. Your faith not only saves you from eternal damnation, but it is a daily salvation, saving from fruitless efforts of self-redemption.

(Mark 11:22)  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

The Psalmisit said(Psalm 119:126)  It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

God wants to, desires to, longs to work in our hearts, for He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9) Come clean with God. It’s like taking a good shower. The water of the Word of God and the confession with the mouth is a match made in heaven. Try it for instantaneous renewal, new beginnings, and new life. Start today, not tomorrow.

Today is the Day of Fresh Mercy.

Do you like a fresh cup of coffee or fresh doughnut in the morning? The warmth or sweetness seems to set the tone for your day. Mercy is like that. We all are going to come short of the glory of God in each day we live, therefore God gladly gives fresh mercy each morning to each individual. Of course, that doesn’t mean we are “to look a gift horse in the mouth,” and do those things not pleasing. This fresh gift of mercy is to motivate us to live right and to show mercy and forgiveness to others. The more I live; the more I know that God’s gifts are given to share. Share mercy daily and watch a new life emerge. Your life can blossom daily in merciful acts of kindness. Try it; you’ll like it.

(Lamentations 3:22-26)  It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

This is your day; the day of salvation; begin today a life of new beginnings.
