This Untold Generation

Jonathan Morrow of Impact 360 Institute says “creating Disney World-like environments in our churches is not Preparing Gen Z (young people born between 1999 and 2015)Morrow, Jonathan. “Why Gen Z Is Not Prepared to Follow Jesus in a Post-Everything World,” Jan. 23, 2018. . He states, “students are entertained but not prepared. They’ve had a lot of fun but are not ready to lead.” He also indicates a departure from the “faith once delivered unto the saints” into atheism. We have seen that first-hand in several young people. They are quite adept in the new age of the latest gadgets, but are not ready for life. Many from strong Christian homes have fallen into this trap while the parents are at wit’s end as to what has happened.
While out on door-to-door visitation, we experienced this crisis as two young folks seemingly didn’t know at all what we were talking about and didn’t seem very concerned. The father, once a nominal follower of Christ, is now very concerned. He seems almost powerless to effect any change. Our prayers for him and his family have been greatly appreciated. His wife almost died in the hospital, but is home now slowly recuperating. The situation is downright pitiful, but again, there seems to be no commitment to change. There is a little desire but that is about all. However, God is able to change this entire situation for His honor and glory, and we don’t plan to give up.
We had another eye-witness testimonial from someone connected with the Disney World-like environment church of our area. Several Sunday nights ago, the so-called church had a time away from the main campus called “Hymns and Hops.” It was a time to sing songs and drink a mug of bear. One of the leaders, when approached about the wisdom of this said, “Oh, I’ll probably drink only one beer.” Dear friends, no wonder Gen Z is confused about morality. What kind of mixed message is this?
Enough of the illustrations, let’s go to our Bibles. What do you think the Bible says concerning these things? Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
This is written as a description of the world-view prior to the Second Coming of Christ. Before Christ comes the Second time and before the Rapture of the Church, the world is destitute of spiritual morals or a spiritual compass. It will be so dry spiritually before the coming of Christ, faith will even be minimal.
Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Deuteronomy 32:20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (fantasy, Disney World-like Environments).
The Old Prophet Ezekiel had an unusual challenge; he had to destroy the false hope of the exiles of returning to Jerusalem before he could preach the true hope of return and rebuild. After Jerusalem was destroyed, the skeptical exiles finally started to listen to Ezekiel but only with an amused curiosity.
Ezekiel 33:30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
Ezekiel 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
Ezekiel 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
In such a case, Ezekiel was commanded to be a Watchman. In Timothy’s case, he was exhorted to “Preach the Word.”
Let’s let every Generation know that there is a God in heaven who has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He desires to save every Generation from their sins.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
